Dr Inġ. Brian Azzopardi
Brian Azzopardi (IEEE S’09-M’11-SM’14) received the B.Eng. degree from The University of Malta in 2002 and Ph.D. degree from The University of Manchester, United Kingdom, in 2011. He is currently a senior academic at the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST) and leads the Energy Research Group, and Visiting Senior Lecturer at The University of Malta. His research interests include photovoltaics and electric mobility network integration and future urban low-carbon society.
Projects Managers (Research)
Renata Sadula
Renata Sadula joined MCAST Energy Research Group (MCAST Energy) in January 2017 and is presently the Projects Manager (Research). She has more than 10 years’ experience in management from devising strategies to projects implementation. Her research interest focus on environmental and energy matters such as renewable energy and clean technologies, sustainable development, environmental impact assessment and modelling of environmental processes. Her articles together with the co-authors can be found in Web of Science, ISI Proceedings, ISI Master Journal List and Council of Lithuanian Science periodicals, databases and reference lists.
Postdoc Research Fellows
Dr Vibhu Jately
Vibhu Jately obtained his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the College of Technology, G. B. Pant University, Pantnagar, India in 2017. Since July 2019, he is working as a post-doctoral fellow with MCAST Energy Research Group, MCAST, Malta. He has over 4 years of teaching experience during which he has also worked under the United Nations Development Programme in Ethiopia. His research interests include the control in photovoltaic systems, control in power electronics and grid-connected photovoltaic systems.
Dr Somesh Bhattacharya
Somesh Bhattacharya (IEEE M'20) obtained his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India in 2018. He is currently working as a post-doctoral fellow with the MCAST Energy Research Group, MCAST Malta. He was briefly employed as an Assistant Professor in the Electrical Engineering Department, Siksha O Anusandhan University, Bhubaneswar, India. His research interests include operation and control of microgrids, stability assessment of active distribution networks with high renewable penetration.
Dr Marcin Pinczynski
Marcin Pinczynski received Bachelors' Degree in Civil Engineering and in Computer Studies from Gdańsk University of Technology, Gdańsk (Poland) and Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poznań (Poland) respectively, Masters in Computer from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poznań (Poland), and Ph.D. in Economy, Specialization Energy Transition Poznań University of Economics, Poznań (Poland). He joined MCAST Energy as Postdoc Research Fellow in March 2021. His research interests include energy systems integration (ESI), energy transition, electric mobility, electricity market monitoring, microgrid and nanogrid.
